Why was it made?

    For 30 years, I was a working dancer with 8-hour rehearsals, 12-hour shoots, and took multiple classes per week in my downtime.

As I get older, I find it more difficult than ever to maintain the physical & mental benefits of dance that used to be baked into my life.

I didn’t need to fit in “exercise”.

As I transitioned into directing, choreographing & teaching, all of the studden I had to figure out how to stay in shape.

Add to this the fact that I’m getting older at the same time & there’s a huge predicament:

“How do I set my body up for success as I age when I don’t dance for a living anymore & traditional workouts feel like a chore, and I miss dancing but don’t have the time or desire to go to regular choreography classes?”

What I disliked about regular video workoutsnot set to music, when there aren't verbal cues, I have to keep looking at the screen. With these, I can keep my eyes closed and know what comes next for the cool downs and stretching. As a dancer, I also love when I know how many 8 counts I’m going to hold a postition. My mind would wander and I'd get impatient because it didn't have a flow. Doesn't fulfill my dancer brain.

I’ll direct you in clear 8-counts with clear cues so you can:

  • stay in the flow without staring at the screen

  • close your eyes and follow my voice

  • feel led by a teacher the way you would in a dance class

  • eventually memorize the “choreography” so you can do these workouts any time, anywhere, without needing the video

  • These lessons can be taken at home in a space large enough for you to fully extend your arms. You can watch on your phone, cast it to your TV, watch on your tablet - as long as you can hear Galen speaking, you’re good to go! What Galen is teaching is so much more about the tools that you can mentally apply than any physical requirement.

    The tap classes can even be taken sitting down!

    While no equipment is required to get started and see results, some optional tools can enhance your workout experience. If you're looking to add to your home gym, here are some items we recommend, all available for easy access on Galen's Amazon storefront:

    • Stretch Strap: Great for deepening stretches and improving flexibility, helping you achieve a greater range of motion.

    • Adjustable Dumbbells: A versatile option that allows you to easily change weights, perfect for strength training without needing multiple sets of dumbbells.

    • Ankle Weights: Add extra resistance to leg and glute exercises.

    • Yoga Tune Up Balls: Excellent for self-massage and targeting tight spots, helping to release tension.

    • Non-Toxic Yoga Mat: Provides cushioning and grip for floor exercises and stretching.

    • Towels: Not just for wiping sweat! Galen loves using towels for gripping weights. Unlike gloves, they won't get smelly and provide comfortable padding for your hands.
